Death toll from Turkey earthquake nears 600
The death toll from Turkey’s powerful earthquake was nearing 600 on Sunday as hopes faded of finding any more survivors in the rubble. At least 596 people were killed and more than 4,150 injured in the magnitude 7.2 quake that rocked Turkey’s eastern Van province, near the Iranian border, a week ago, Turkish authorities said.
